Also, I sent out a mailing to everyone who expresses interest in a NAAGE "project based education" symposium at the Society for Human Ecology Conference in Montreal next May. As that comes together, I will let everyone know. |

![]() | p37 Heidi Brugger | The annual NAAGE conference is a time for me to make connections with others who share the interests of me and my institution in walking gently on our home planet. I came back from this year's conference with what I describe as "brain burn"--so much stimulation and interaction, so much to think about and do. Our team was energized by the conference. Malika, Nate, Pat and I are continuing to meet on a regular basis and are planning a presentation to involve more of our campus population. I look forward to next year's conference and the development of the student exchange program. |

![]() | p53 Craig Martinsen | P.53 The conference at Northland College was great. It was very exciting to explore the Bioregion which Northland is embedded within. Not only was the conference a very productive experience, it was a learning experience. This conference has inspired the community here in Prescott. By meeting with other individuals from like minded institutions it kicked us into high gear. We are working as a community to form a Vision for our institution which will be implemented over the next 25 years. By working together we can begin to prepare for the changing needs of the 21st century and prepare a group of young people now to confidently plan for the future. I'm very excited about what's happening in Prescott and what's happening around the country at NAAGE institutions. It was a joy to see the NAAGE family grow this year and the excitement about building our community in further years. Thank you everyone for your love and help. Love, Craig |

![]() | p05 Malika Osborne | My experience at Unity College has given me more than i thought education could. In my last year here i am trying to give back to unity what it is that i have gained. i am doing this in several ways: promoting NAAGE and it's possibilities on campus, initiating and maintaining a women's circle, starting a soapbox series to generate discussions about social and environmental justice topics among students and faculty. I am also working with 2 different environmental organizations on campus towards "greening" our campus. It's all a lot of work, and meaning FULL! I think some of the most important work i do is in acknowledging the great leadership i see in my peers, so that they're empowered to keep the faith and keep on greening! |

![]() | p31 Allisone Scott | Hello! I'm in Vermont with SolarQuest learning about solar. Yeah, its not exactly the place to be for that, but some students will be coming back to Arizona with me to learn about maple tapping techniques. There is nothing like Arizona tapped maple syrup! Now that school is in session it is time to begin the networking for
the student contacts that appointed themselves at the mighty round circle and the greater student body at each college. Be thinking of hooks we can create that will grab people into wondering their heads off what NAAGE was all about, just like we all did when we first got involved. To center your thoughts, think of relationships between college organizations and their relationship to other colleges.
Any information or ideas would be helpful and will soon be complied in a data base. |

![]() | p47 Cedar Sexton | Raina is in Switzerland right now, so we haven't been able to touch base with her. We are also really excited about all of the resources and info everyone has been finding and sharing on environmental justice issues. There are many situations in Ohio where communities of color have been chosen as neighbors for formaldehyde production companies, hazardous waste storage, etc. We went to a hearing and protest a few weeks ago, concerning Georgia-Pacific irresponsibly producing several dangerous chemicals (there are explosions at the plant every few years that hurt the neighborhood) in a middle-income community, predominately people of color. I recommend that anyone interested in Environmental issues read Vandana Shiva and Ward Churchill (Struggle for the Land). Thank you! --cedar and klint |

At Northland the Environmental Living and Learning Center is up and running, Environmental Council is hoping to hold its first meeting this week and we had our first frost last night. Fall is here. Many other things are happening, but I'll let others report on those. |
