Global Biodiversity Recorded in Species Databases
- Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF): Proposed by the OECD Megascience Forum Working Group on Biological Informatics Subgroup for Biodiversity Informatics. The Megascience Forum of the OECD Committee for Scientific and Technological Policy addresses issues related to large-scale scientific programmes requiring international collaboration. Within the life sciences, it has established a Biological Informatics Working Group, pursuing its mandate through subgroups for Neuroinformatics and Biodiversity Informatics.

INDEXING THE WORLD'S KNOWN SPECIES: "Species 2000 has the objective of enumerating all known species of plants, animals, fungi and microbes on Earth as the baseline dataset for studies of global biodiversity.
